💡
Face the camera

Neutral expression, eyes open, mouth closed, both ears visible if required.

☀️
Even lighting

No shadows on the face or background. Daylight facing a window works great.

🧍
Leave room

Shoot from the chest up with space above the head — you'll crop precisely here.

Photo requirements — quick guide

📐 Head size & position

Most standards require the head (chin to crown) to fill 60–75% of the photo height, centred horizontally, with eyes in the upper half. The dashed guides in the editor show the accepted head zone for your selected standard — keep the chin on the lower line and the top of the hair near the upper line.

😐 Expression & pose

Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open and looking straight at the camera. Head straight, shoulders square. No head tilt. Hats and tinted glasses are generally not allowed; prescription glasses are banned for US passports and discouraged elsewhere.

🎨 Background

Plain, uniform and shadow-free. White or light grey is accepted almost everywhere; some countries specify light blue (Malaysia) or allow cream (UK). Use the AI background tool to replace a busy background with a compliant colour.

👶 Babies & children

Lay the baby on a plain white sheet and shoot from above, or seat them in a car seat covered with a white cloth. Eyes should be open if possible (relaxed for newborns in many countries). No hands, dummies or toys visible in the frame.

🖨 Printing

Download the sheet sized for your paper (10×15 cm is the cheapest at photo kiosks), print at 100% scale on photo paper, and cut along the guides. A 300 DPI export prints true to size; choose 600 DPI for premium lab printing.

🔒 Privacy

Everything — cropping, AI background removal, sheet generation — runs locally in your browser using JavaScript and on-device AI. Your photo is never uploaded, stored or tracked. Close the tab and it's gone.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really free?

Yes — completely free, no watermarks, no sign-up, no hidden paywall. Print the sheet at home or at any photo kiosk for the cost of one standard print.

Will my photo be accepted officially?

The tool crops to the exact official dimensions and shows the biometric head-zone guides for your standard. Acceptance also depends on lighting, expression and background, which you control — follow the guide above and the checklist for your issuing authority.

How does the background replacement work?

An on-device AI segmentation model (MediaPipe) separates you from the background directly in your browser and composites a uniform colour behind you. Best results come from photos where hair contrasts with the original background.

What does “print at 100%” mean?

In your printer dialog choose “Actual size” or set scaling to 100%. If the printer scales the page, the photos will no longer measure exactly e.g. 35×45 mm.

Which size should I print on?

10×15 cm (4×6″) is the most common and cheapest photo print worldwide and fits 4–8 ID photos depending on the standard. A4 fits 20+ photos if you need many copies.

My country isn't listed — what do I do?

Use Custom size in step 2 and enter the dimensions from your issuing authority in mm, inches or pixels. Everything else works the same.
